Lights, camera, action! Splitbeam launched 2024 with a Bang.
Splitbeam has had an exhilarating start to 2024, collaborating with various teams on a diverse array of productions across multiple genres.
Kicking off 2024 in Buenos Aires
In the first quarter of 2024, Splitbeam was involved with several new and returning productions. We started the year in Buenos Aires with a new production for Disney called “La Caja Magica”, The Magic Box.
Mara takes us to “The Magic Box”, a gateway to your favourite Disney songs and stories. This story is a collaborative project showcasing some iconic songs from Disney’s most beloved characters.
We were then involved with the return season of The Sound of Music for Pieter Toerien Productions and The Cape Town Opera. The Sound of Music is a household name, featuring nun-in-training Maria Von Trapp as the governess to the seven children of the enigmatic Captain von Trapp. It’s a story of love, acceptance, and the overarching threat of the political turmoil of the time.
Heading back to the City of Gold, we worked on developing the family-friendly production Blippi at the Theatre of Marcellus. Blippi is an action-packed story about trucks of all kinds. It is a whirlwind feature that sees him and special guest star Meekah journey from city to city on an extravaganza of monster trucks, garbage trucks, and excavators.
Staying in Joburg, our team was also focused on producing an intimate, sultry evening of jazz and good vibes with the legendary Lalah Hathaway. Working with longtime industry professionals such as Lalah is always a treat. With over three decades in music and a talented vocal range, Lalah’s captivating performance transported her audience to a world of classic R&B and Jazz.
This production continued until April 7 at Montecasino before moving to Theatre on the Bay from April 12th to May 18th, 2024, and our crew is proud to be a part of this ongoing journey. Amadeus is a thrilling drama and the story of Mozart that embraces a range of genres, from light-hearted comedic relief to suspense roused by capturing music. Composed by Antonio Salieri, Amadeus follows the life of the classical genre’s most iconic name in the court of the Austro-Hungarian empire.
Q1 of 2024 will round off with yet another celebration of ABBA’s golden records through the lens of MAMMA MIA! Needing no more introduction, MAMMA MIA! will be featured at the Teatro at Montecasino from April 12th 2024.
