EVITA – SPLITBEAM

In mid-October 2017, South African audiences enjoyed the return of the musical production of Evita – seen for the first time on South African stages since the 1980s, and supported by an extensive lighting rig.

After its premiere at the Montecasino Teatro in Johannesburg, South Africa the production hit Cape Town’s Artscape Theatre, before embarking on an Asian tour. An extensive lighting rig and PA system recreated the imagery and feel of the original, coupled with projection and automated scenery to enhance the iconic Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s story.

Watchout 6 Renders Life to “Calling Me Home” Set

Calling Me Home is an epic theatrical piece which ran from 17 August until the 3rd September 2017 on The Mandela Stage at Joburg Theatre.

The show and score were written by South African based composer and producer Alice Gillham and bringing the musical to life was Director Magdalene Minnaar. The Technical Director for the production was technical rental suppler, Gearhouse Splitbeam’s own Alistair Kilbee. Marcel Wijnberger was given the task of system design to realise the Animation Designers dreams for the video content.

Splitbeam was involved in providing equipment for the launch season of collaborative work for The Centre for The Less Good Idea: Season 1, between 1 - 5 March 2017 at Arts on Main in the Maboneng Precinct. The event was the brainchild of renowned visual artist, William Kentridge, providing artists with a space in which to explore experimental, collaborative and cross-disciplinary art projects in a non-pressured environment.
